DISCOVER THE UNDERGROUND WORLD OF VALMALENCO
The Miniera della Bagnada museum was founded out of the wish to bring to light and safeguard an heritage that was on its way to oblivion. In the past, the mining industry was crucially important in Valmalenco – and especially in Lanzada.
Now, its rediscovery allow us to reflect on the historical and social importance of an industry that shaped the culture of local communities for over two centuries.
A visit to the Bagnada talc mine will take you to the discovery of the mountain from the inside – a unique and unforgettable experience.
Program: Meeting at 9 AM at Consorzio Turistico Sondrio e Valmalenco – loc Vassalini.
The mine can be reach with own transportation or by shuttle bus (with supplement).
A guide will welcome visitors at the entrance of the museum and lead the group during the whole visit.

A DAY IN CHIAREGGIO
In the high part of Valmalenco, it is one of the most characteristic settlements in the Alps. Set at 1600 meters of altitude, this typical alpine village is dipped in the snow in winter and framed by well kept lawns in summer.
It is not rare to come upon rapacious during the winter, as in summer marmots have done their fixed home. In winter 3 hotels and a restaurant welcome the numerous tourists wishing to plunge in an uncontaminated nature. The only viable road is closed to traffic and the ways to join Chiareggio are many. On foot, with snowshoes, with cross-counrty skis thanks to the well kept ring departing from St. Joseph and finally with the private snowmobile service organized by the open hotels and restaurant.
The typical dishes of Valtellina are always available in the hotels and restaurants of Chiareggio but the chefs know how to surprise their clients with “out of traditional dishes” but rigorously homemade.

CYCLING ON SNOW
Created to dart on the sands of Mexico and the snow of Alaska, fat bikes arrived in Valmalenco too, to allow everyone to discover its fairy-tale landscapes.
Fat bikes owe this curious name to their oversized tires, much bigger than any regular mtb tire. Their big wheels grant a huge stability and allow anyone to face snow-clad paths and rough terrains without making too much effort.
